Buyer protection

What every seller on Bravo Zulu Auction House agrees to, and what happens if something goes wrong with your order.

Ships fast

Sellers ship within 3 business days of your payment, always by USPS.

As described

If it's significantly different from the listing, send it back for a full refund.

We step in

Report a problem within 14 days and we'll work with both of you to sort it out.

How payment works here

You pay the seller directly through PayPal. Bravo Zulu Auction House never holds your money, so we can't issue refunds ourselves. Refunds come from the seller, and PayPal Goods and Services gives you PayPal's own purchase protection on top of this policy. Always choose Goods and Services when you pay, never Friends and Family.

Before you bid

  • Read the whole description and look at every photo.
  • Use Ask the seller a question on the listing if anything is unclear. Answers are shown on the listing for everyone.
  • Tap the seller's name to see their ratings, reviews, and past sales.
  • For anything you can't afford to lose, pick the tracked box at checkout. Untracked envelopes are cheaper but come with no tracking or insurance.

What every seller promises

  • Ship within 3 business days after you pay, by USPS, to the address you entered at checkout.
  • Add the tracking number on the listing when you chose a tracked box.
  • Pack the item so it arrives in the condition described.
  • Describe and photograph the item honestly, including any flaws.
  • Answer you, and us, when there's a problem with the order.

If your item doesn't arrive

It depends on what USPS tracking shows:

What happenedWhat the seller must do
The seller never shipped it, or the tracking never shows USPS receiving the packageFull refund, including shipping.
Tracking shows USPS has it (in transit, delayed, or stuck)No refund required while USPS has the package. The seller helps you track it down: a USPS missing mail search, and for a tracked box, a claim on the USPS insurance that comes with it. Either of you can file the claim.
Tracking shows it delivered to your addressNo refund required. Check with neighbors and your post office, and file a USPS missing mail search.
You chose an untracked envelope and it didn't arriveNo refund required. You accepted the risk of no tracking at checkout; the seller should confirm when and where they mailed it.

If it isn't as described, or arrives damaged

Significantly not as described means a real difference from the listing: the wrong item, a different year or variety, damage or flaws that weren't disclosed, a fake, or missing parts the listing included. Small differences in photo color or minor wear that the description mentioned don't count.

In that case the seller must give a full refund (item and original shipping) once you send the item back in the condition you received it. The seller pays the return postage. Keep the tracking number for the return.

Damaged in the mail: keep all the packaging and take photos right away. If it was packed poorly, it counts as not as described. If it was packed well, the seller or you can file a claim on the USPS insurance included with a tracked box.

Returns for other reasons

Auctions are final. Sellers don't have to accept returns because you changed your mind or found it cheaper elsewhere, though a seller may agree to one. That's why it's worth asking questions before you bid.

How to report a problem

  1. Message the seller first. Most problems are fixed with one email.
  2. If that doesn't work, open the listing and use Get help with this order within 14 days of delivery (or, if it hasn't arrived, within 14 days of when it was expected). Include dates, tracking, and photos if you have them.
  3. We email you both, review what happened, and tell you what we decide.

A seller who doesn't ship, won't refund when this policy says they must, or misdescribes items can lose the ability to sell, or have their account closed. Problems are also reflected in ratings, which other buyers can see.

Because we don't hold the money, we can't force a refund. If a seller refuses one they owe, open a Goods and Services dispute with PayPal (PayPal's deadlines are longer than ours) and tell us so we can act on the seller's account.

For sellers

This policy protects you too. Ship to the checkout address and add tracking, and you aren't responsible for a package USPS has lost or delayed. You never have to refund an item that wasn't sent back to you, or take returns for a change of mind. Describe flaws clearly and use the photos to show them, and not-as-described claims are rare.

This policy is part of our Terms. PayPal's purchase protection is separate and follows PayPal's own rules. Last updated October 19, 2026.
